The Natural Dog Company made the INC 500 list!

On August 12, 2020, The Natural Dog Company, a Loveland, Colorado-based distributor of dog treats and chews, landed in the top half of Inc.’s list of the 5,000 fastest growing private companies in America with a rank of 1,725. The Natural Dog Company sells its premium quality, single-ingredient dog chews through small independent pet stores across the country.

Dan Goodnow founded the family-run business in his one-car garage in 2009 by selling natural dog chews at farmers markets before calls from local pet stores asking to carry his products prompted the company’s initial growth, and helped define its market. “You won’t find our products in big box stores,” says Goodnow, who purchases chews and treats from around the world before preparing them for distribution to independent pet stores. “We are known among dog lovers as a brand that prides itself on quality and consistency.”

Over the last decade Goodnow has grown the company to a team of 25 employees. He credits his team’s focus on customer service excellence and product quality as keys to their success. Sustainability, from powering its first warehouse with wind energy to sourcing free-range, grass-fed chews, is also central to NDC’s company mission. In the company year, Goodnow says NDC will use its growing position in the natural dog chew market to make a positive impact on the environment. In the last quarter of 2020, NDC will announce a new packaging initiative that Goodnow says will place the company as a leader in setting new standards for sustainability within the pet industry. “Our business of distributing dog chews touches many industries, from cattle grazing, to logistics, to packaging,” Goodnow says. “We are working in all of these areas to improve the lives of the people and pets we work with, as well as the environment in which we work."
